Rain Barrel Workshop

April 30 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The Water Works Park Foundation invites you to join us as we celebrate Earth Day by promoting rainscaping practices with a rain barrel workshop.

Rain barrels are a form of rainwater harvesting: they collect water from your roof and store it for later use around your property. A typical rain barrel can hold up to 55 gallons of water for gardening, cleaning, and other purposes. This can save you money on your water bill and reduce runoff and pollution in our water bodies. Join the Water Works Park Foundation and the Izaak Walton League of Des Moines on Thursday, April 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm for a make-and-take rain barrel workshop.

The Rain Campaign will present the proper installation, benefits, and maintenance of rain barrels, and guide you through the process of making your barrel. Visit the Rain Campaign website to learn about the available rebate programs in the Des Moines metro area.
