Maifest at the Des Moines Biergarten

Maifest, a traditional German spring festival, celebrates the arrival of warmer weather and the beginning of Biergarten season. The two-day event will feature live music, maypole dancing, food vendors, games, and family-friendly activities all set within the mature tree canopy of the Des Moines Biergarten.

The festival will include performances from the Amana Colony Maypole Dancers, bringing a traditional element to the weekend, along with a full lineup of live music from regional polka bands. Guests can also expect classic biergarten competitions such as sack races and stein-holding contests, as well as yard games and activities for all ages.

Food vendors will include Strudl House, Karam’s Mediterranean, Local Cow Ice Cream, and Sweet Treats German Roasted Nuts, alongside the Biergarten’s selection of German bier.
